A leading supplier
Essent is a supplier of electricity, gas and heat. Providing good service is a key factor – customer satisfaction by ensuring accurate invoicing and by providing good service, as well as energy-saving options and a suitable approach to customers who are in danger of not being able to meet their financial obligations.
Products: increasingly more green
Essent in 1995 was the first supplier to sell consumers energy generated from natural sources. We now have hundreds of thousands of ‘Groene Stroom’ (Green Power) customers and sustainable power now accounts for more than one-third of all power sold by Essent. Sustainable products such as ‘Groen Zakelijk’ (Green Corporate), ‘Groen voor Gas’ (Green for Gas) and ‘Groen Gas’ (Green Gas) have been added since.

Green Power and Green Corporate
Green Power (and the corporate version known as Green Corporate) is electricity generated from sustainable sources. Examples include wind energy, hydropower, solar energy, and, especially, biomass.

Green for Gas
Green for Gas is the type of gas supplied to all households. However, with Green for Gas, the amount of CO2 released during gas usage is immediately compensated for by investments in projects that promote the use of sustainable energy.
Green Gas
Green Gas is a relatively new green product offered by Essent. This type of gas originates from rubbish dumps, water treatment plants, and industrial and agricultural fermenters. Under oxygen-free conditions, organic material transforms into biological gas through bacteria. Once this biogas has been upgraded to natural-gas quality and fed into the gas grid, it is referred to as Green Gas. This gas is fully CO2-neutral. Green Gas is supplied through the regular natural gas grid. Companies can purchase so-called Green Gas Certificates from Essent and thus use CO2-neutral gas.
