Wind energy
Essent has made a strong commitment to wind energy. We plan to develop large projects in close proximity of the coast where the highest availability of wind is guaranteed. Essent, without or together with partners, looks for the best locations. We take into account local interests and we build our power plants in accordance with strict (environmental) laws.
The largest wind energy park
Essent currently operates twelve wind energy parks on the Dutch mainland. Located in Eemshaven in the north of Groningen province, Windpark Westereems with its capacity of 156 megawatts is in fact the largest wind energy park in the Netherlands. It generates sufficient energy to supply eco friendly energy to half of all households in the province of Groningen.
