Combined Heat and Power plants: electricity and heat
Essent is one of the leaders in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plants in North-west Europe. CHP plants and their smaller versions known as CHP units are good for the environment since they generate electricity and heat at the same time, which is more efficient than generating them separately. This provides an energy saving of up to 80%. CHP plants and CHP units are therefore highly efficient and their CO2 emissions are low.
Combined Heat and Power units
CHP units are basically small CHP plants that are typically installed at the premises of our customers (many of whom are greenhouse growers). The installed capacity of all of Essent’s CHP units is approximately 160 MW.
