Cooperating on driving electric

In order to achieve a breakthrough in driving electric Essent is cooperating with a large number of partners in a variety of fields, for example by initiating joint pilots. As forerunner in the field of driving electric, Essent is working hard on electrifying its fleet, which already includes a number of electric cars and scooters.

Electric cars

Several dozen Essent employees have exchanged their conventional lease cars for electric models. They now use a sustainable electric vehicle to commute to work and, if they choose, for private travelling as well. One hundred Essent employees will be driving an electric car by the end of 2010.

Pool car

Besides electric lease cars we also have electric pool cars. These are available to all our employees for the purpose of business trips.

Electric scooter

In addition, around 30 Essent employees in numerous towns and cities in the Netherlands have electric scooters to commute to work and for personal use.

Goal

The goal of these pilots is to gain experience with the use of electric vehicles for work-related and private trips. The experience gained from our employees will increase our knowledge and give us an insight into, for example, the charging infrastructure, battery technology and the views of the drivers and those around them. What is more, by driving these vehicles, Essent employees are already demonstrating the benefits of electric transport to future users.

Pilots and partners

We are also working on a variety of initiatives being taken by ’s-Hertogenbosch local authority and provincial government of Noord-Brabant. Numerous other pilots are being prepared.
