Unique energy product ‘DubbelZeker’ (Doubly Sure) enters consumer market

As from today, energy utility Essent is offering a new energy product to consumers: ‘DubbelZeker’ (Doubly Sure). This product means that for the first time in the Dutch energy market, consumers not only have a guarantee against price rises, but they will also benefit from price decreases. ‘DubbelZeker’ (Doubly Sure) has been introduced to Dutch energy consumers through widespread attention on the television, Internet and radio.

Why ‘DubbelZeker’?

The energy market is constantly in a state of flux; energy prices can rise and fall. On 1 July, the energy companies increased the tariffs . This was in response to the rise in the price of oil (and the gas price linked to that) on the international market. Consumer organisations recommend fixing the price in order to prevent energy bills rising in the (near) future. But energy prices can also fall. For example, as a result of a decreased demand for raw materials caused by a new financial economic crisis. That is why Essent is now offering ‘DubbelZeker’, which means consumers will not only benefit from price rises, but also price decreases.

‘DubbelZeker’ – what is offered

With ‘DubbelZeker’, customers will enter into an annual contract for the supply of Green Energy and Gas. The guarantee will have immediate effect and applies for the entire term of the contract. ‘DubbelZeker’ is available until 1 October 2011.
