The Energy Centre and Essent join together to save energy

Den Bosch, 2 February 2010 – The Energy Centre Foundation for Small and Medium Enterprises (Stichting Energiecentrum Midden en Kleinbedrijf) and Essent will be working together in the area of energy savings.

Essent is utilising the Energy Centre’s knowledge in order to provide its Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) customers with advice about saving energy and will offer its customers, amongst others, the online Energiescan (‘energy scan’). Businesses that complete the Energiescan will learn within 15 minutes what their energy consumption is and how they can save energy. Today, both parties have signed a joint venture agreement.

“We are now also able to use the experience and knowledge gained by the Energy Centre with/about companies in the SME sector,” says Albert-Jan Smid, Marketing and Sales Manager SME of Essent. “The independent Energiescan is perfect to use for that. It endorses our ambition to stay close to our customers and will ensure that we can pay even more attention to their needs as far as energy savings and cost reduction are concerned.”

Wasted energy

The agreement with Essent is also advantageous for the Energy Centre, an initiative of the Dutch business community. In October 2009, the Energy Centre calculated that in the SME sector, 300 million Euros worth of energy is wasted every year. “Because of the joint venture with Essent, in one fell swoop we are able to reach a large group of businesses, on account of which we can further drive back the leakage of precious energy,” says Martin Kloet, Director of the Energy Centre.

Energy checkup

Essent has extensive exerpeince with SME customers. For this group of customers, Essent developed the EnergieAPK (‘energy checkup’), which it uses to advise its customers about, amongst others, the style of contract, contract duration and tariff options. Taken into account in the savings advice provided by Essent is the sector in which its customers are active.
