Sale of Essent's cable activities to Cinven and Warburg Pincus completed
Essent today announces the completion of the sale of its cable activities to private equity firms Cinven and Warburg Pincus. The agreement to sell Kabelcom for € 2.6 billion was announced on 3 August 2006 and approval was received from The Netherlands Competition Authority (NMa) on 8 December.
The divestment of Essent Kabelcom is in line with Essent's strategy to focus on energy and provides Essent Kabelcom with the scale needed to grow within the consolidating telecom and cable sector.
Cinven and Warburg Pincus are now the joint owners of Essent Kabelcom, Casema and Multikabel. Combined, the three companies will provide 3.3 million customers with radio, TV, Internet and telephone services.
Company name 'Essent Kabelcom' will be substituted by '@Home', Essent Kabelcom's consumer brand.
