Essent offers a remote control 'E-thermostat'

Introduction of a new product range ‘Mijn-E’ which focuses on comfort living, insight and energy savings

Den Bosch - As from the 1st of January, Essent is offering consumers the so-called E-thermostat, which can be turned up or down remotely using a smartphone or tablet PC.

The introduction of the E-thermostat marks the start of Essent's new ‘Mijn-E’ (in English: ‘My-E’) product range.

‘The appearance and rapid development of smartphones and tablet PCs leads to new products and services that are simple to control using software applications’, said Arjan van der Eijk, Director of Smart Energy at Essent. ‘For Essent, this offers numerous opportunities to develop, along with consumers, new products and services, which we will offer under the name ‘Mijn-E’.

Through ‘Mijn-E’, Essent provides consumers with smart energy solutions that will help them to obtain more insight into their energy consumption and therefore control over their energy bills. This also contributes to comfortable living. The E-thermostat is an example of this, as is the VerbruiksManager app which Essent recently introduced.

Over time, Essent will also be bringing products to the market which allow equipment and lighting to be controlled remotely. New applications will also be developed which link up with the introduction of the smart energy meter and which focus on effective use of sustainable but unpredictable energy sources, such as solar and wind power.
