Essent Netwerk becomes ENEXIS
Essent Netwerk, responsible for the development, maintenance and management of Essent's distribution network, will continue from the beginning of 2009 under the name ENEXIS. This new name represents an important step for the grid company on its route to independence.
The grid company has from time immemorial focused on its social duty and responsibility to provide smooth, safe distribution of gas and electricity and a good service for customers. ENEXIS will also focus on the future of energy distribution in the Netherlands. The grids will be prepared for alternative energy flows, for instance.
There will as yet be no changes affecting customers and others involved with the network company. The new name will be used from the beginning of 2009. In the course of that year ENEXIS will become more visible and recognisable as an independent organisation.
The move towards independence of the grid company is the result of the Independent Network Management Act (Act of Separation). This act stipulates, among other things, that as of 1 January 2011 energy production, trading and supply companies may no longer belong to the same group as grid companies.
