Essent Kabelcom expands its superfast internet connection via cable after a successful trial
The residents of Boxmeer are very happy about 'Ethernet to the Home' as the internet of the future.
The trial of Essent Kabelcom's @Home service with superfast broadband internet in Boxmeer has been such a great success that a decision has been made to offer residents yet more services in a new phase. All the people in Boxmeer have since been connected to the new broadband connection via coaxial cabling. From now on they can choose between four internet subscriptions, telephony, and free participation in online forums and online calling. To herald this new phase of Ethernet to the Home, Essent Kabelcom and the Boxmeer municipal council are going to hold an opening ceremony at Boxmeer town hall on Thursday 31 August at 3pm.
Essent Kabelcom expands its superfast internet connection via cable after a successful trial
Essent Kabelcom started testing in Boxmeer, Oost Brabant, in 2004. At that time the community was still unable to use the internet via cable. Boxmeer is representative of the area covered by Essent Kabelcom and is therefore an excellent research area for a trial of the newest generation of broadband internet. What is more, Boxmeer was the very first local community in Holland here such high speeds on such a large scale were tried out. A survey into satisfaction among the 1275 people taking part in the tests in 2005 showed that hey were unanimously very satisfied with the installation and the speed of the nternet connection. Furthermore, because there is no modem, the Ethernet connection is free of interruptions. Because of this success @Home has since onnected all 28,000 Boxmeer residents to the 10-megabit network and onverted the test results into an extensive package of services with telephony and four types of internet subscription. What is unique is that customers can change these subscriptions online to their own requirements, as often as once a week.
Both @Home and Boxmeer municipal council are very satisfied with the results of the tests. They are therefore jointly planning to usher in the second phase of Ethernet to Home with an opening ceremony. As well as short speeches from the mayor, Mr. K.W.Th. van Soest, and Mr. A. van der Feltz, Marketing & Sales Director of Essent Kabelcom, in a special demonstration specialists will demonstrate the unprecedented abilities of Ethernet to the Home.
