Data production capacity of Essent power plants publicly available

Den Bosch - Essent is the first energy production company in the Netherlands to provide public insight into the available production capacity of all its power plants. Starting today, at www.essent.nl/energielive, Essent will publish current information about direct free capacity, electricity production and overhaul scheduling.

Peter Terium, Essent CEO: “What is already standard in some other European countries is still exceptional in the Netherlands. We must simply change to a more transparent market. Greater transparency will lead to a more open and liquid market and this will benefit all parties involved in the market. The more current data are available to all market players, the better the decisions can be substantiated. We took the first steps last year. Now the information is available online and other energy production companies in the Netherlands should also take steps towards a more transparent market.”

Insight into electricity production

On the website www.essent.nl/energielive, the following market data are available on Essent power plants over 100 Megawatt capacity (Amer 8 and 9, Claus A and Moerdijk 1):

  1. The currently freely deployable capacity: The amount of Megawatts that the large Essent power plants can generate jointly.

  2. Prospects of the available capacity for the next seven days: the amount of Megawatts the large Essent power plants jointly have available for the generation of electricity.

  3. Current electricity generation per fuel type for all large Essent power plants.

  4. Electricity production for the current week for all large Essent power plants.

At the end of this year, Essent will further extend the data available at www.essent.nl/energielive. Even data on planned and unplanned production restrictions as a result of revision, maintenance or breakdowns will become available.

Essent’s parent company RWE started in 2007 with the publication of network and production data. These data and more information are available to everyone on www.rwetransparenz.com.
