Bio-energy Power Plant Cuijk: more than 1 million MWh of Green Energy
The bio-energy power plant of Essent in Cuijk has generated more than 1 million MWh of Green Energy over the past years. This corresponds with the average annual consumption of more than 400,000 households. In the process, the green power plant burned almost two million tonnes of wood chips which originated from Forestry Commission forests and were delivered by industrial suppliers.
The power plant in Cuijk is used exclusively to burn sustainable biomass in the form of wood. With this, Essent produces Green Energy and the company contributes to the reduction of CO2 emissions; every year around 100,000 tonnes.
Since the introduction of its product Green Energy in 1995, Essent has developed into a large producer of sustainable energy. The power plant in Cuijk also makes an important contribution to this. Every year, Green Energy is produced for around 60,000 households.
