A member of UN Global Compact
Essent in 2007 was the first Dutch energy supplier to join the UN Global Compact.
Launched under the auspices of the UN, the UN Global Compact is an initiative between governments, businesses and institutions for the development and application of universal principles on human rights, employment conditions, environmental protection and fighting corruption.
Millennium goals
Essent is active in the Dutch Chapter of Global Compact that pursues the eight millennium goals for development. We specifically focus on two of these goals: eradicating famine and poverty, and developing a sustainable living environment. Essent seeks to implement this by procuring regular goods and services, and very specifically by subjecting the procurement of biomass fuels to strict social, ecological and environmental conditions.
